Here’s a partial list of what local groups did for their 2016 events:

The Gateway Family YMCA, Union, NJ planned a Hawaiian Luau themed event. Participants wore grass skirts and leis for dance exercise, followed up with a party in their lobby.

Country Meadows Retirement Community, Mechanicsburg, PA hosted a fitness trail walk that included balance activities, followed by back massage and smoothies!

The Audubon YMCA, Norristown, PA participants enjoyed a day full of fitness activities, free chair massages, meditation, and healthy cooking demonstrations.

The Fairfax Parks & Recreation Department, Fairfax, VA offered free exercise classes for the day, including cardio strength, and senior stretch and balance.

Vantage House, Columbia, MD repeated their 10,000 Steps and More Program for their 2nd year hosting an event.

Anytime Fitness, Covington, GA had free Zumba Gold and Yoga Fitness Gold classes, along with free refreshments and special offers.

The Yellow Springs Senior Center, Yellow Springs, OH planned a “flash mob” in the street near their senior center

The Hudson Hearing Clinic, Hudson, WI offered free hearing screenings and blood pressure checks.

The Seagoville Senior Center, Seagoville, TX invited a benefits counselor from the Dallas Area Agency on Aging to answer questions about Medicare and Medicaid.

The J. Leonard Levy Family Wellness Center, Aurora, CO event included a vendor fair, super foods lunch and learn, and other wellness presentations.

CWPV Connections, Sun Lakes, AZ planned an event with their “I Love Walking” group using Exerstrider walking poles.

Glendale Community College, Phoenix, AZ offered free guest passes for their wellness center, along with a variety of fitness classes.

The City of Vista, Vista, CA had an entire day of activities, including a morning walk, healthy snacks, and a special smartphone class showing health and fitness apps available.

SCAN Health & Wellness Center, Ventura, CA hosted a “Pacific Striders” fitness walk with measured walks of different lengths led by their fitness staff.

Alaska Regional Hospital, Anchorage, AK had a health fair featuring both their hospital staff and local vendors.
