is Senior Day?
You're
invited to join more than 1,000 local organizations in all 50 states on
Wednesday, May 27, 2009 as we celebrate the 16th annual National Senior
Health & Fitness Day. The common goal for this day: to help keep older
Americans healthy and fit. Always set for the last Wednesday in May, National
Senior Health & Fitness Day is the nation's largest annual health promotion
event for older adults.
National
Senior Health & Fitness Day is organized as a public-private partnership
by the Mature Market Resource Center, a national information clearinghouse
for the older adult market.
What
will happen on National Senior Health & Fitness Day?
Local
organizations will host a variety of health and fitness related activities
based on the interests of the older adults in their communities. Last
year's event activities included fitness walks, low-impact exercises,
health screenings and health information workshops.
Who
can host a National Senior Health & Fitness Day event?
Any
local organization interested in the health and fitness of older adults
is eligible to host a National Senior Health & Fitness Day event. Each
local group, however, must register by purchasing the registration packet
available by calling 1-800-828-8225.
It's
easy to organize a local event for National Senior Health & Fitness Day!
When you register,
you'll receive the official program manual filled with easy-to-use ideas
for organizing your event activity suggestions, posters, press
releases, reproducible health information handouts, even ideas for obtaining
local financial support. Your registration fee includes your manual, a
large, colorful event banner, program posters and sample incentive items
T-shirt, button and balloon.
